Dixon 4-H Achievement Program held November 5

The Dixon County 4-H Achievement program was held on Sunday November 6 at the Haskell Ag Laboratory near Concord. County Award Winners for 2006 were: Horse- Megan McLean, Waterbury; Honorable Mention Horse- Kayla Knudsen, Hubbard and Hannah Borg, Allen; Beef and Food and Nutrition- Zachary Kramper, Jackson; Meat Goat- Mackenzie Niemeier, South Sioux City; Photography and Gardening - Heather Leiber, Jackson; Wood Science- Haley Messerschmidt, Waterbury; and Entomology- Blake Messerschmidt, Waterbury.

Most Completed Projects was awarded to: Heather Bearnes, Laurel. Heather is a member of the Pins and Pans 4-H Club and has completed 67 projects.

The club receiving the Herdsmanship Award for the year 2006 is the New Generation 4-H Club, club leader is Martey Stewart. Cow/Calf Award was presented to Kyle Metzger, Newcastle, a member of the New Generation 4-H Club.

Chris Clover awards are presented to younger 4-H members who participated in a variety of activities. Winners of the Green Chris Clover awards with 60 to 129 points are: Mackenzie Niemeier, South Sioux City; and Kathryn O=Keefe, Allen.

Winners of the Bronze Chris Clover Award with 130-174 points are: Hannah Borg, Wakefield and Kristyna Muller, Wakefield.

Clover Kid (4-H member 5 to 7 years of age) pins are being awarded to: Wyatt Blatchford, Newcastle; Alyssa Boese, Dixon; Heidi Borg, Wakefield; Garrett Brentlinger, Allen; Hailie Brentlinger, Allen; Mackenzie Crosgrove, Jackson; Cailin Gentrup, Waterbury; Brandon Gottsche, Waterbury; Ethan Gubbels, Randolph; Nicole Hanson, Concord; Matthew Hoesing, Maskell; Rachel Hohenstein, Maskell; Katelyn Irby, Jackson; Colton Krusemark, Waterbury; Steven Lieber, Jackson; Russell McLean, Waterbury; Ciana Messerschmidt, Waterbury; Megan Muller, Wakefield; Logan Nelson, Allen; Madison Niemeier, South Sioux City; Sean O'Keefe, Allen; Quincy Rich, Ponca; Cody Thomas, Allen; Devin Twohig, Waterbury.

Several leaders received a special pin this year for their continued support of the 4-H program. Receiving two year pins are: Malinda Cunningham, Laurel; Tamie Gregerson, Allen; Jeri Jacobs, Newcastle. Receiving five year pins are: Kathryn Crosgrove, Ponca; Kent Crosgrove, Ponca; Robert Gottsche, Waterbury, Clayton Hartman, Laurel; and Lisa Lunz, Wakefield. Receiving a ten year pin this year is Rhonda Warner, Allen.

Presenting a program on their 4-H Camp experience were: Ali Davey and Devin Jacobs from Newcastle. They attended 4-H Ranch Camp last summer.
