Dixon 4-H Achievement Program held November 4

The 2007 Dixon County 4-H Achievement program was held on Sunday November 4 at the Haskell Ag Laboratory near Concord.

Most Completed Projects was awarded to: Elizabeth Ebmeier, Laurel, a member of the Pins and Pans 4-H Club. The recipient this year completed 68 projects.

Winning County Awards were: ANIMAL SCIENCE, Senior- Haley Messerschmidt, Waterbury. ANIMAL SCIENCE Junior- Kayla Crosgrove, Ponca; Blake Messerschmidt, Waterbury Mackenzie Niemeier, South Sioux City. CONSUMER & FAMILY SCIENCE: Junior- Heather Lieber, Ponca. SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY Senior- Haley Messerschmidt, Waterbury SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY Junior-Blake Messerschmidt, Waterbury. COMMUNICATIONS & EXPRESSIVE ARTS: Junior- Mackenzie Niemeier, South Sioux City Kayla Crosgrove, Ponca

The club receiving the Herdsmanship Award for the year 2007 is the Willis Feeders 4-H Club, club leader is Carmen Stark. Cow/Calf Award was presented to Lauren Metzger, Newcastle, she is a member of the New Generation 4-H Club.

Winners of the Green Chris Clover awards with 60 to 129 points are: Mackenzie Niemeier, South Sioux City Kristyna Muller, Allen; Megan Muller, Allen.

Winner of the Bronze Chris Clover Award with 130-174 points are: Quincy Rich, Ponca

Winners of the Silver Chris Clover Award with 175-249 points are: Hannah Borg, Allen Heidi Borg, Allen

Clover Kid (4-H member 5 to 7 years of age) pins are being awarded to:

Receiving a Club of Excellence in 2007 are: Pop’s Partners, Lisa Lunz, Leader Green Acres, Donna Davey & Jeri Jacobs, Leaders Pleasure & Profit, Darlene Roberts, Leader New Generation, Martey Stewart, Leader Trailblazers, Cheryl Rich and Becky Irby Leaders

Narrators for the program were: Devin Jacobs, Newcastle; Kayla Knudsen, Hubbard; Rebecca Koch, Laurel; Kelsi Stoos, Ponca; Rylee Rich, Ponca; and Mackenzie Niemeier, South Sioux City.

Those attending enjoyed a show of the year activities as will as ice cream and brownies. Area banks helping to sponsor the event included: Security National Bank, Allen; State National Bank, Wayne; Farmers and Merchants Bank, Wayne; First National Bank, Wayne; and the Bank of Dixon County, Ponca, Jackson and Newcastle, and Iowa-Nebraska Wakefield.
