Dixon 4-H Achievement Program held November 7

The Dixon County 4-H Achievement program was held on Sunday November 7 at the Haskell Ag Laboratory near Concord. As part of the 4-H Celebration, the program this year also featured Alison Davey, Newcastle with pictures from her 4-H Camp Experience.

County Award Winners for 2004 were: Beef - Eric Jensen, Jackson; Cat -Alicia Gregerson, Allen; Rabbit - Elizabeth Ebmeier, Laurel; Horse - Rilee Rich, Ponca; Public Speaking Elizabeth Ebmeier, Laurel; Leadership - Alicia Gregerson, Allen; Home Environment Ashley Maxon, Laurel; Bicycle - Christina Gregerson, Allen; Food & Nutrition - Anne Langhorst, Ponca; Bread -Ashley Maxon, Laurel; Rocketry - Adam Stark, Ponca; Wood Science - Michael Jensen, Jackson

Most Completed Projects was awarded to: Jennifer Davey, Newcastle and Sara Sorenson, Newcastle, members of the Green Acres 4-H Club. The recipients this year complete 60 projects.

The club receiving the Herdsmanship Award for the year 2004 is the New Generation 4-H Club, club leader is Martey Stewart. Cow/Calf Award was presented to Kyle Metzger, Newcastle, a member of the New Generation 4-H Club.

Chris Clover awards are presented to younger 4-H members who participated in a variety of activities were: Green Chris Clover awards to: Heather Lieber, Jackson; Tyrel Harwager, Allen; John Stark, Ponca; Rylee Rich, Ponca; and Megan Stark, Ponca.

Bronze Chris Clover Awards to: Jacob Lunz, Wakefield; Christina Gregerson, Allen; Ashley Gregerson, Allen; Daniel Muller, Allen.

Silver Chris Clover Award winner is: Elizabeth Ebmeier, Laurel

Receiving Clover Kid Pins were: Donnie Anderson, Newcastle; Audra Corbit, Laurel; Kayla Crosgrove, Ponca; Sydney Cunningham, Laurel; Branden Hohenstein, Jackson; Andrew Hoesing; Maskell; Ryan Knudsen, Dakota City; Kristyna Muller, Allen; Ciana Messerschmidt, Waterbury; Daniel Ebmeier, Laurel; Elizabeth Nelson, Allen; Aliah Nelson, Ponca; Brook McCluskey, Newcastle; Megan Muller, Allen; Russell McLean; Waterbury; James Stark; Ponca; Mackenzie Niemeier; South Sioux City; Logan Nelson, Allen; Marissa Gregerson, Allen; Quincy Rich, Ponca; and Marissa Gregerson, Allen

Several leaders received a special pin this year for their continued support of the 4-H program. Receiving ten year pins are: Marica Rastede, Rob Bock, Yvonne Hansen, and Joy Smith. Volunteer Pins to parents and leaders added to the Dixon County volunteer list in 2004 were: Shannon Boeshart, Sandy Newton, Kimberly Cloninger, Wayne Newton, Robert Knudsen, Cheryl Rich, Amy McLean, and Robert Gottsche.

Receiving a charter in 2004 are: Pop’s Partners - Vernae Luhr & Lisa Lunz, Leaders; Willis 4-H Feeders -Kent & Kathryn Crosgrove, Leaders; Green Acres - Donna Davey Leader; Pleasure & Profit - Darlene Roberts, Leader; New Generation - Martey Stewart Leader; Pins & Pans - Deb Bearnes, Leader and Dad’s Helpers -Yvonne Hansen, Leader.

Narrators for the program were: Jennifer Davey, Newcaslte; Ashley Maxon, Laurel; Hillary Belden, Newcastle; Heather Bearnes, Laurel; and Kayla Knudsen, Hubbard.

Darlene Roberts, from the 4-H Council, presented the County Awards. Those attending enjoyed a slide show of the years activities as will as ice cream and brownies.

The 4-H Council and banks helping to sponsor the event included: Farmers & Merchant Bank, Wayne; Security National Bank, Allen; Iowa-Nebraska State Bank, Wakefield, First National Bank, Wayne, First Nebraska Bank, Emerson; State National Bank, Wayne, and the Bank of Dixon County at Ponca, Newcastle and Jackson.
